Dustin Shannon’s childhood dream of helping people buy and sell homes became a reality when he earned his real estate licenses in Florida and Alabama. Inspired by the show Property Virgins and his grandparents' rental properties, Dustin's passion for real estate began early. Alongside his successful career in real estate, his love for historical research—exploring Southern towns, abandoned cemeteries, and ghost towns—led to the publication of eight books and numerous articles. Practicing real estate in Alabama, Florida, and Kansas with HomeSmart Realty, Dustin continues to serve clients, blending his historical insights to provide exceptional service to homebuyers and sellers.
Dustin has also transitioned into a full-time writing career, producing notable works such as Possession at Joyland and Whispers of the Prairie: The Chico Chronicles. His deep-rooted passion for history began during a high school internship at the Smoky Hill Museum, sparking his dedication to historical preservation and research. He has further contributed to local history through projects like volunteering for the Sanborn Cemetery Project and researching the abandoned town of Chico, Kansas. Balancing his real estate career with writing, Dustin started as a buyer's agent for eXp Realty in 2020 before expanding into the Kansas market. His commitment to real estate education is reflected in his work training future agents alongside Marlene McKinley from July to December 2022. Now fully dedicated to his writing, Dustin captivates readers with rich narratives that blend history and storytelling, making a significant impact in both the literary world and historical preservation. |
